THE WALKING STREET MARKET: THE EXPERIENCE
Not only was Pai a huge highlight for us with its beautiful surroundings and people, but also for the deliciously fresh food we endured. Every single night of the week, Pai comes alive with its famous walking street market, where the main street is blocked off from cars and scooters and you get to walk through all the deliciousness Pai has to offer.
Our personal fave for dinner was this dude’s Thai food truck. There’s no specific name for the truck itself but he parks down one of the little side streets next one of the convenience stores. (Just ask someone where he’s parked) We ordered Pad Thai and Thai Green Curry and when he started preparing; we realized he cooks everything from scratch per order. You can see all of his herbs and vegetables fresh and ready to be used. Then once he finishes one dish he’ll wash everything until it’s sparkling clean and prepare the next. All within about 30 minutes! Fresh and deliciouuuus
We can’t forget drinks and desert, from Jackie’s favorite $1 large fresh pineapple & mango shake that she had almost every night. Or my favorite “Grandmas Pancakes” delicious mini pancakes with Nutella and banana that were like 8 for about $1 ok mouths watering. One mini downside to Pai was that most places trading hours are 11am to 11pm so if you feel like that morning coffee or breakfast you’ll have to wait a while. Overall you MUST must must try the walking street market if you visit Pai. You’ll be so impressed!
