El Paradiso! Bonbon beach is a little slice of heaven. The beach is well known to locals for its stunning sand bar that leads from Romblon Island to a small private island. The water surrounding the sandbar is PRISTINE. We had never seen a beach like it. Water exactly like the blue Gatorade colour!
Basically there’s one main road around Romblon Island. Having no signal and very limited wifi on all of the islands, we decided just to drive until we saw the turn off sign! It was a short 15 min drive from our accommodation and 10 minutes from the port.
When we arrived we realized it was about a 2km walk down a stretch of decent beach which is where most of the locals hang out which is crazy because just down from there is the most amazing part of the beach!
The tides are always changing but typically, low tides are around 10am and 4pm. Check the morning of your adventure to be sure when the low tides are so you can see the sandbar in all its glory. When the tide is high, the currants can be extreme so we wouldn’t advise trying to go out at high tides as you might drift away quickly.
As we swam in the clearest water we’d ever seen and sat in awe of our surroundings, we had a wave of gratitude take over us. How lucky are we?! two Aussie girls exploring the Philippine Islands… Its incredible what can happen when you put in work for your dreams!
