6 Adventurous things to do In Palawan, Philippines.
Palawan is made for water lovers with approximately 1,780 islands. There’s no wonder that the main activities undertaken here are day tours to the closest and most accessible areas. We did our fare share of day-trips during our short stay but Palawan has so much more adventurous activities to offer such as guided hikes to lookouts, deep sea diving adventures + more. So if your looking for more than just your usual resort hopping/cocktail sipping holiday then heres 6 reasons to visit Palawan, Philippines.
1. Hike Mt Tapyas, Coron Island
Don’t get it twisted. Its 700+ steps and not stairs and is definitely not as difficult as some make it out to be albeit the weather can play a huge factor here. There are multiple stops along the way to rest your feet and at the top you will be welcomed with 360 degree views over the Coron port and town proper. The hike is best taken at dusk prior to sunset as this is usually the coolest time.

2. Take a road trip to Duli Beach & Nacpan Beach
, El Nido
Nothing says adventure like a good ol’ road trip. And when you have two amazing beaches on the line up, your set for an incredible day. Duli beach is a 2km long surf beach located 25km north of the main town and deserves at least a 2 hour-all day stay. Nacpan is the Jewel of the mainland and for good reason. Crystal clear water with a long strip of soft sand lines with palm trees. A true image of paradise… if you can handle the bumpy ride in.

3. Take El Nido’s Highlight Tour – Combo A &C
Its the best of the best. On a private tour you get to choose which islands you visit and for how long and on the group tour you get to kick back and enjoy the ride. You’ll visit a combination of lagoons and hidden beaches where you can kayak, snorkel or swim all whilst lunch is prepared fresh right off the back of your boat.
4. Swim in Coron best beaches with the Island Escapade Tour
If your an island baby then this one is definitely for you. You’ll visit the most famous beach in the region Malcapuya as well as Banana and Bulong Dos Islands. If you ask us, this would have to have been our favourite tour by far because it allows a decent enough time spent at each location whereas some of the others feel a little rushed.
5. See Coron’s highlights on Tour A
If want to see the famous Coron view with your own eyes then this is the tour that goes there! Its called Kayangan Lake and is accompanied by visits to CYC beach, Green Lagoon and a quick snorkel stop off. Again, lunch is provided with these tours and with prices averaging 1700 Php or $40 AU AUD for a group tour, you really cant go wrong.

6. Soak in the Maquinit Hot Springs, Coron Island
Whilst this isn’t the most adventurous activity, we’re suckers for natural hot springs so we had to add it to the list. These are said to be some of the hottest with average temperature of 40 degrees. The springs are open from 8am-8pm but with temperatures like that we suggest planning your visit for the evening. Salt water therapy anyone? It really does work wonders on your muscles, especially if you’ve just endured a midday Mt Tapyas hike.
